Out and about in Glenn County

The Glenn Golf and Country Club is a nine-hole course that can be played as 18 with different tee boxes. Men’s course length totals 6,544 yards, while the women’s is 5,970.

Black Butte Lake is an incredible draw for camping, boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing. 

The Stony Gorge Reservoir offers an 18-mile shoreline for fishing, boating and camping. 

The Sacramento River is the longest river in California, from its headwaters in the Klamath Mountains north of Glenn County to the San Francisco Bay. Running along the eastern boundary of Glenn County, the Sacramento River is a primary source of recreation beyond its use as a critical water resource for area agriculture. Several parks and boat launches are located on the river, offering boat launch access to the river for fishing, waterfowl hunting and other water sports. 

To the south of Willows, the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge provides unlimited recreational opportunities, from wildlife and bird watching to photography, hiking, hunting and more.
The western side of Glenn County is dominated by the Mendocino National Forest, one million acres of pristine landscape encompassing Northern California’s coastal mountains and the Sacramento Valley foothills. Recreation opportunities are seemingly unlimited, from backcountry trekking and camping to boating, fishing, biking, OHV riding and more.

Glenn County is famous for the Thunderhill Raceway, which brings auto enthusiasts from across the world to the track located just west of Willows. The motorsports complex has a three-mile and two-mile track, which, when combined, is the longest road course in the country.
