Glenn County was incorporated in 1891, named for Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, the most prominent wheat farmer in the state during his lifetime and a man of great prominence in political and commercial life in California.

Willows Museum
The Willows Museum fosters an appreciation of the historical background of Glenn County. Popular exhibits center on Native American life in the area, agricultural history, Smoke Jumpers and the Forest Service and much more. It is located in Willows in the 1911 Andrew Carnegie Public Library building, known for its Temple variation of Classic Revival architecture.
